All Main Street board members need basic information to carry out their duties
as overseers of state-chartered nonprofit organizations.
Yearly board turnover is a fact for most local Main Street programs.
​New board members arrive each year, some with plenty of nonprofit board experience, some with none.  

SCHEDULE
There will be short, 5-minute breaks between each speaker/session

  • 8:30AM - Doors Open, Coffee and Conversation (Breakfast foods served as well)
  • 9:00AM - Welcome and Getting-to-Know-You
  • ​9:15AM - Main Street 101 & Committee Organizational Roles
  • 10:15AM - Transformation Strategies and Accreditation Standards
  • 11:00AM - Succession Planning and Organizational Health
  • 12:00PM - 1:00PM - Lunch on Your Own in Stockyards City
  • 1:00PM - Legal
  • 1:30PM - Grants
  • 2:00PM - The Art of MOUs
  • 2:30PM - Board, Committee Member, and Volunteer Recruitment, Engagement, and Retention
  • 3:15PM - Q&A and Wrap-Up​
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW
  • Business Casual dress 
  • Bring walking shoes
  • Bring a sweater (Police Lodge can be cold)
  • Bring pad and pen or computer for notes
  • Park in the back of the Police Lodge, enter through the back doors (signs will be posted)
  • Sign in when you arrive and pick up your name tag/table tent
